Revisionist History Episode 1 : The Lady Vanishes

I was struck with the the term, moral licensing because I couldn't put the term better myself. I see the phenomenon everywhere, on the sns, people around me, and unfortunately even myself. I think this is inevitable, because it is a human trait-for people to shield themselves, to make themselves better than what they really are. So they actually 'know' that there's a problem with their thoughts and actions but don't really believe it. That is why they permit themselves to do what they actually believe in-such as faulting the skin color for the actions of a black person, after pretending that they are not racist by voting a black man for president.
Therefore I see the main problem not with the moral licensing, but with what people believe and how they put their beliefs into action. However it is extremely difficult to change a person's belief or perception-some are just too stubborn to listen and open their minds when others try to convince them, even when they're using logic. So it is easier to change what those people believe is fact. We should keep throwing what they believe as counter examples, and eventually make them fact. I know it will take plenty of time, but I believe this is the only way, better than just complaining about the discriminating society, better than just waiting until the society changes for us.
